World's First Squeezable Chutney!

World's First Squeezable Chutney!

What does one do when they don't find Indian restaurant food spicy enough? If you ask Dan and Lalit, the answer is simple - create a line of Indian Chutneys!

The concept came to the duo in 2011 while in business school. After graduating and spending more than a year on research and perfection, Bandar Foods launched with 2 chutneys - Spicy Mango and Mint Cilantro. Today they have 5 flavors including my favorite - Sweet Mango. In addition to the sauces, they also have 3 flavors of naan inspired chips.

Bandar in Hindi means Monkey. Like a mischievous monkey swinging thru the trees, Bandar likes to play around with traditional food flavors and make connections. Dan and Lalit made this connection by turning Lalit's family recipe for aachar(a household condiment in India), into a squeezable format that Americans love.

Even though the name and brand is all fun, there is some serious work that goes into creating the sauces. For example, 2 types of pre-ripe mangoes are pickled for 6 weeks in India before being turned into the Spicy Mango Sauce for people to enjoy.

Where can I find Bandar Products?

Bandar sauces and chips are available at Whole Foods, Safeway, Albertsons and other retailers. You can also find their sauces and chips on their website at https://www.bandarfoods.com/

What's Next?

To make their sauces more accessible and a part of everyday american life, the team is working on single serve packets so you can enjoy the sauce with every meal!

Pro Tip: Mix some Spicy Mango Sauce with Yogurt. Great way to have flavored yogurt without the sugar!
